Norris breaks her own record, wins Southern Stampede

Just two weeks after breaking her own school 5K school record, Harrisonville junior Kayleigh Norris has done it again.

On Saturday, she beat a talented field at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin. It marked Norris’ third win in as many meets.

Norris won the meet with a time of 17 minutes and 43.42 seconds. Her time of 17:43.42 beat the second runner by nine seconds. She broke her own previous school record, which was set Sept. 2 in Liberty, was 18:16.3.

Last spring, Norris continually broke school records in the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs on the track.
